Agriculture faces ever-increasing global challenges: global population growth, the impact of climate change, and the urgent need to preserve biodiversity and natural resources.
Through our innovations in plant breeding, we contribute to addressing these challenges.
We value the importance of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. To achieve greater impact and contribution, we prioritize focusing on those that are among the material issues of our business, that is, those that we are best positioned to address with our capabilities and resources, and that are also at the intersection of our interests and the expectations of all stakeholders we interact with.
GDM responds to SDG 2 – Zero Hunger by focusing on technological innovation and agricultural sustainability, contributing to the challenge of providing food for a global population expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050. This requires not only increasing productivity, but doing so in a sustainable way—preserving resources such as land, water, and energy, respecting biodiversity, and minimizing waste.
With more than 3,400 employees across 15 countries, we understand that our growth as a company is intrinsically linked to the professional development and well-being of our people. We foster respectful and collaborative environments, always prioritizing the safety and health of our employees, and we provide professional development opportunities and highly specialized jobs so our people can grow within the company while we continue to attract new talent.
At GDM, 55% of our workforce is dedicated to Research and Development, which explains our leadership in innovation in plant genetics. Through a global network of experimental stations, laboratories, and research centers in more than 15 countries, GDM promotes the development of cutting-edge technology in service of producers and facilitates access to innovative technological solutions, even in less developed regions.
We seek to integrate sustainability into every stage of our value chain, from research and development to the delivery of products to the market. We work to ensure traceability across all our operations regarding the results of our commitments to reducing environmental impact. Among the actions we are carrying out to achieve this goal are plans to incorporate renewable energy, the Low-Carbon Soybean development program, and the application of technologies for new genetic developments that ensure higher yields with lower resource consumption.
Agriculture is one of the sectors most affected by climate change and, at the same time, one of those with the greatest impact on it. GDM’s main contribution lies in the development of varieties that are resilient to different climatic conditions and deliver high yields.
In our operations, we seek to reduce our environmental footprint through emissions mitigation, the use of renewable energy, and the promotion of partnerships to advance sustainable practices throughout the entire value chain.
Our sustainability strategy is organized around three pillars: environmental responsibility, human development, and transparency and compliance.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY: Through our developments and processes, we promote the efficient use of natural resources.
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT: We promote the development and well-being of our teams and the communities where we operate.
TRANSPARENCY AND COMPLIANCE: We act with ethics and integrity and in compliance with regulations in all our operations.
This systematization helps us prioritize our efforts and promote actions throughout the organization to accelerate the positive impact on each of the objectives set.
Advanced genetics for production efficiency
We develop seed genetics that optimize inputs, improve yields, and protect the environment.
Managing the environmental impact of our operations
We promote the efficient use of resources by developing sustainable management practices in our operations.
Well-being and development of the work team
We promote work environments where respect, equal opportunities, and personal development are prioritized.
Development of local communities
We collaborate with local communities to promote education and generate long-term social and productive impact.
Ethics and transparency
We build transparent and trusting relationships with our stakeholders, acting with integrity in every decision.
Responsible value chain
We work with strategic partners who share our values, promoting best practices from research to the field.
Sustainability is a path, a way of working and a commitment to the future of our business.
The achievements and challenges we encounter as we make this journey are part of our roadmap, providing us with lessons and guidance that will help us redefine our approach to sustainability for future cycles.
In 2025, we focused on setting new goals for the next three years in a planning exercise that involved the executive committee and leaders from different areas and businesses, reaffirming our commitment to deepening GDM’s positive impact on agriculture, while always maintaining our focus on our customers, partners, employees, and the communities in which we operate.
