It all began in the early 1980s, when Gerardo Bartolomé, along with his brother Alejandro and four friends, decided to travel from San Isidro to Chacabuco, Argentina with dreams of growth.
Under the name “Don Mario,” utilizing their significant training in soybean cultivation, this group of friends innovated by growing an American soybean variety in Argentina, with great results. That seed—Mitchell—would lead to what would become one of the company's most successful varieties: DM49. By 1989, Don Mario had already developed its first variety, and what followed was nothing but growth: expansion, diversification, internationalization, and the incorporation of advanced technology. In other words, this was the path to GDM's success.
